Electrolytes are important
In 2021, I researched ways to lose weight in a healthy way as I was trying to shed a few pounds after trying unsuccessfully over many attempts. One of the key ingredients for me was electrolytes.
What are electrolytes? Electrolytes are substances that are essential minerals that carry an electric charge and come in the form of sodium, potassium, magnesium, chloride, calcium, and phosphorus. And many of these minerals are lost through sweating, particularly when we exercise, as well as through regular functions such as urination. They are essential for every cell, tissue and organ in the body. (reference: https://about.spud.com/electrolytes-best-sources/)
I researched and tried many products finally settling on NUUN electrolyte tablets that I added to my water first thing in the morning to re-hydrate my body.
Our body loses water through dehydration at night. To re-hydrate, the body in the morning is important because if you don't, it may lead to cravings later in the day. I wrote about this and my 30-pound weight loss in a book called the 100 Day Diet on Amazon. You can purchase it in paperback, e-book or audiobook by clicking here.
As I started to exercise more, I found I needed more hydration especially now in the summer. Adding a tablet to water really helped me to stay well hydrated throughout the day. The tablets come in caffeinated (black tops) and non-caffeinated flavours, and I found the NUUN tablets to be the purest without much-added sugar.
